Nendo - Lily

Just saw this at Dannychoo.com! Cute, no? ^^

More at Mikatan's blog!

Several weeks later...

"Not Photoshop - ed!"

Its amazing what a blacklight can do to your figures ^^
Last week was the graduation ceremony for the class of 09! I myself finished in 08 but a few of my buddies were still in school. It was awesome seeing them all happy and relieved no more homework for them...well, for now anyways (College here we come) ^^. It really feels like time went by in a flash. Even today I can't believe I'm finally free to start living my actual life. I can just find a job and live till I die. But no, I have set a long list of goals that need some accomplishing. Graduating with a masters is first on the list, followed by job hunting, and finally, settling down in Japan. Where I'll hopefully find my soul mate and raise a family together ^^

What are your goals for this lifetime?

Anime Boston 09!

I completely forgot about this blog so its time to catch up on things. Last week was probably the highlight of the year so far. Anime boston 2009. The first thing that was a shocker for me was how the lines didn't take over 6 hours to register this year =D. I happened to time it from the moment I arrived to the time I picked up the badge, resulting in 47 minutes of waiting time and random yelling from the hoard of people in line! Some sang the pokemon theme song, while others yelled out "MARCO" and everyone else responded in a thunderous sound "POLO!" lol, way to stay entertained while waiting.

Danny choo neko mimi?!
"Its not called rape of you want it...and you know you do" ;]
I entered the Halo 3 tournament...failed in the 1st round =[ (I blame the lag from system linking)

Spiffiest chief outfit I've seen. Complete with LED lights on his helm and plasma rifle.

Sick contact lenses!

"Wheres the rum?"

As for the loot...

The lovely Kureha from the "Shining Wind" series. By Kotobukiya.

And how can I NOT walk away from an anime con without the beloved Rei Ayanami! From the "Neon Genesis Evangelion" series. By Fraulein, Revoltech.

It was an awesome 3 day event. The only concern for me was the weather. It was so hot I was sweating a bit before I even entered the building!

Bleak future for Japan?

It seems Japan has become the worlds #1 country succumbing to low birthrate. C'mon men! Don't be a NEET/Hikki, put down the mouse, lay off the pocky, put away your figures and meet a beautiful woman right now! Please? =`[

Figma Fight #1

With 1 hour classes each day and a whole lotta nothing to do, I've decided to be creative and use my figma for some action. This is is titled: Saber Vs. Rock Lobsta!

*!!!*

"I've come to claim your life!"

*...........*

"Prepare yourself!"

"Hiyaaaa!!!"

*!!!*

*Cling!*

"Ah!"

*Snip snip*

*Wham!*
"ugh!"

"ufh..."

"I'm not through just yet..."
*Pant pant*

*Dazed*

"As long as I still draw breath..."

"I will NEVER give up!"

*.........*

"I'm going to finish this once and for all!"

*Mana Charging*

*whoosh*

*O_o!*

"This is..."

"the end..."

"...for YOU!"

"HaaaaAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!"

*Woosh!*

*.............*

"Pant Pant"

X_X

"Sigh..."
*Wind blows softly...*

"I cannot die yet..."

"Not until I've fulfilled my promise"

......

"I swear it!"

*End*

Eh, needs more editing, I don't want to use the figma stand in a future fight xD

K-on! Crazy!

It didn't take long before a new anime series made Otaku worldwide squeal like crazed girlies after watching a Jonas Bros. concert.

I'm talking about "K-on!". A slice of life story about 4 girls forming a band through their school's light music club. Filled with "Lucky Star" antics and a bit of "Haruhi Suzumiya" as well.

From the left:
Mio Akiyama: Probably the most popular out of the 4. She plays Bass in the series, and sings the ending theme which I'll show you later on. She seems to be the smart one of the bunch and with a tsundere personality. Reminds me a lot of "Kagami".

Ritsu Tainaka: She plays the drums. Her personality reminds me of Konata or Haruhi. A Go-Getter with a bit of an attitude, but still makes me smile ^^ Don't really know much about her except that she is the one to come up with the idea for a band ever since she and Mio watched a concert on T.V.

Yui Hirasawa: She's the adorable, clutz of the bunch. She doesn't play an instrument other than the castinets which was during her childhood, but the other girls assigned her to the guitar. She just screams "Tsukasa." She is the last member to join the light music club after watching a performance with the girls and she gave them harsh criticism ^^;

Tsumugi Kotobuki: She plays the keyboard. Not a lot to say about her except that she joins the club after watching Ritsu and Mio in a hilarious argument. Originally wanted to join the Choir club, she seems to be laid back, sort of soft spoken and reminds me of "Miyuki" for that.

Together, they form the light music club. The first episode had enough moments to make anyone smile. From Yui's airheadedness to Ritsu's exagerrations. The anime pretty much focuses on music. Its not bad either, especially the ending theme which everyone went crazy for:

"Don't say Lazy"
video

KyoAni brings their unique style of animation into it as well. the movements seemed pretty fluid to me and artistry is beautiful, just like any typical high school anime show like "Clannad" and "Haruhi Suzumiya". I don't know why a lot of people have been complaining about the animation though =/

All in all, I have high hopes for this anime. Its only aired 1 episode and everyone already wants a Mio figure xD

Figma Memory

Very old pics of my first figma, Saber-chan ^^. I remember it like it was yesterday when I received her at my doorstep. I was very anxious to rip apart the box and play around with her, but impatience leads to the dark side!

My HDD has enough pictures to fill up an old 03 sony vaio computer's memory (About 70 gig) so I definitely need to sort my pics neatly into their own folders when I have time. But since I found these pictures of the unveiling for Saber figma, I might as well show you a "How to" when handling a closed box.

Many go after the top of the box first, but I tend to break open the bottom for those who want to keep their boxes after they take out the goods. This way, any damage the box takes won't be shown since the bottom is face down (durr).

Gently slide out the plastic case from the box and voila! You'll be met with the figure enclosed in two more plastic cases ^^;

The top plastic casing should be removed. Carefully pull on the 4 edges of the plastic to loosen it since its kind of tight, this way you won't pull it out by force, causing all of the pieces to fly all over the place...Once its loose from all sides, gently pull it upwards.

The first thing you'll want to move aside is the accessories at the bottom of the figure. It comes with a head removal instruction paper, a figma bag to keep your accessories from being misplaced, and the multi-hands for the figure.

behind the figure is the figma stand and the balance arm that plugs into the back of the figma for unique poses.

The figure itself has some plastic surrounding it. You'll want to gently pull out the figure by grabbing the plastic behind it and lift it out.

Plastic underneath her skirt...taking protection to a whole new level ^^;;;
REMOVE IT!!

Ganbate! She is finally free from her plastic prison ^^
Photo-op moment:
She didn't like it when I pulled out the plastic underneath her skirt ^^;;;....

Reminds me I need a new camera. Hopefully I can find a point-and-shoot with 10mp for around $200-300!
